Mandore
Mandore was the ancient capital of Marwar, before the formation of Jodhpur. It lies towards the north of Jodhpur, just 8 Kms from the main city. Historically, this place quite rich and holds importance. Besides that, there are a number of other things in this famous excursion of Jodhpur, Rajasthan that attract tourists.

Balsammand Palace
At some point of time in our life, we all want to stay at a place overlooking a water body, preferably a sea. The Jodhpur Balsammand Palace in Mandore, Rajasthan offers you this kind of comfort. Jaswant Sagar Dam
The Jodhpur Jaswant Sagar Dam lies in Pichiyak village between Bilara and Bhavi of Jodhpur district. It was constructed, in 1892, by Maharaja Jaswant Singh. The water from Jaswant Sagar Dam of Jodhpur, Rajasthan is utilized for irrigation purposes in Jodhpur. The greenest part of Jodhpur receives water from this dam. The land of Pali was leased to the Paliwalis by the then chief of Mandore. Paliwalis were priests formerly. But after getting the leased land, they cultivated it diligently, abandoning their former priestly profession.

Jodhpur Pali City also has two temples. The temples of Somnath and Naulakha are very old. Naulakha is a Jain temple having elaborate carvings. While Somnath temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. This temple is known for its handsome bulling having exquisite moldings. A good place to visit for someone historically inclined.

Sojat City
Sojat city of Jodhpur, Rajasthan is situated on the left bank of the Sukri River, near Pali town. It was earlier (in the ancient times) known as Tamravati. There is also a fort in Sojat city. The fort has a big reservoir and several temples like Sejal Mata, Chaturbhuj and so on. There is also an old temple of Chamunda Mata situated on top of one of the hillocks. For Muslims, there is the Dargah of Pir Mastan. It is a very popular dargah, specially thronged by Muslims at the time of Urs - a Muslim festival.

Another tourist attraction in Jodhpur Sojat city is the plantation of Mehendi trees. Mehendi is a herbal plant. Its leaves are squashed into a thin paste and applied on the hands and the feet, of particularly females, in various attractive designs. Many tourists (specially the foreigners) who happen to visit this city get their palms and feet decorated by the Mehendi of Sojat.

Nimaj
Nimaj near Jodhpur, Rajasthan is specifically known for a temple. The Nimaj temple in Jodhpur, India was built in 9th century. The Nimaj temple is dedicated to goddess Durga. Also within this place, is a unique art gallery. The gallery showcases some masterpieces of sculptural art. Adorning the masterpieces is the natural surroundings. Nagaur City
Nagaur City near Jodhpur, Rajasthan is a secure desert city. It is situated about 135 kms to the northeast of Jodhpur. Nagaur lies about midway between Jodhpur and Bikaner. The Jodhpur Nagaur City dates back to the 4th century AD. It was at the center of Muslim invasions from Central Asia.

The focal attraction of the Nagaur city is the Ahhichatragarh Fort. The Ahhichatragarh Fort is a medium sized fort. The Mughal Emperors Akbar and Shahjahan got this fort constructed. Inside the fort, is the Mughal Garden, still retaining its original pleasant appearance. Also inside the walls of the fort are palaces, mosques, temples, baolis (reservoirs), water systems, fountains, open terraces, etc dating to the time of Mughals. Dominating the landscape is a five-domed mosque built by Akbar. Also adorning the walls of the fort and ceilings of the palaces are beautiful painting.
